What is pirated software?

Pirated software is illegal.

Pirated software is software that is offered for sale, sold or provided in any other way by persons who do not own, or have any rights to, that software.

Pirated software is generally not a complete copy of genuine software and is often unstable or unusable.

Pirated software is usually traded over the Internet for much less than the cost of genuine software. If the price of software is too good to be true, the chances are it is illegal or unlicensed.

How to ensure that my software is a genuine Wilcom product

Wilcom does not allow its software to be downloaded over the Internet. If you are offered software in this manner, please contact Wilcom immediately on piracy@wilcom.com.au.

Genuine Wilcom software will require an authorisation code to activate the software. This is known as a “dongle”. All Wilcom dongles are supplied an Access Code to activate them. These access codes are issued by Wilcom International Pty Ltd and validate a legal dongle.

The most common way for illegal Wilcom software to be distributed is when illegal copies are made and distributed in packaging that replicates the genuine Wilcom packaging. Counterfeit registration cards with unauthorised serial
